With 80% of people in the world saying they are driven by spiritual values of some kind, the Global Compact on Refugees (GCR) identifies faith-based actors as potential contributors to peaceful co-existence between displaced people and their hosting communities.

Join us on 19 November for a webinar organized by UNHCR, PHAP, and Religions for Peace which will look at how this role can be further strengthened. We will explore examples of multi-religious efforts to promote protection and solutions for the forcibly displaced, refugees, and stateless and internally displaced persons and how these can be scaled up in collaboration between faith leaders, governments, and other stakeholders.

The webinar will take the form of a discussion with members of the Multi-Religious Council of Leaders. To foster greater collaboration with faith leaders in the build-up to the next Global Refugee Forum in 2023, UNHCR and Religions for Peace formed the Council, which held its inaugural meeting earlier this year. The discussion will be led by Prof. Azza Karam, Secretary General of Religions for Peace, and Ms. Gillian Triggs, UNHCR Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, will provide opening and closing remarks.
