Security related developments in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) forced thousands of people to leave their homes and move to Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Dera Ismail Khan and Kohat districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; Bakkar and Fatehjang in Punjab; and other parts of the country as well as to Afghanistan since 22 May 2014. So far, the authorties have enlisted over 455,597 displaced people. The FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) has established a camp in Baka Khel with a capacity to house 200,000 people but almost all displaced people prefer to stay with relatives or friends or in rented houses.

Togh Sarai displacement

In the second week of June almost all IDPs residing in Togh Sarai Camp in Hangu District left the camp after threats from some non-state armed actors and an attack resulting in injuries to four people. The camp houses some 7,000 people displaced from Kurram and Orakzai agencies. Consequently, the Government increased the security in and around the camp, resulting in some 3,077 people returning to the camp. The remaining approximately 3,923 people are still spread to surrounding areas.
