Syria: Fierce fighting between opposition groups has led to further displacement in Deir-ez-Zor while a truce between the Government and the opposition is expected to see the Old City of Homs handed over to the Government after its recent campaign to retake it.

Afghanistan: Massive landslides in Aab Bareek, Argo district, Badakhshan province, killed at least 350 people, with the death toll feared to rise to 2,500. Over 7,000 people are affected, of whom 5,000 are displaced. Further flash-flooding occurred in Takhar, Baghlan and Samangan provinces. Updated figures on the 22-26 April flash floods indicate that 159 people were killed and over 71,000 people affected across the northern region. Heavy rain and snow melt could cause further flooding in Herat, Ghor, Sar-e-Pul and Samangan provinces in the upcoming days.

South Sudan: Fighting between government and opposition forces, and clashes between rival tribal and ethnic groups, have reportedly continued to mar the country through early May. The South Sudanese army re-captured opposition-held cities in Unity and Upper Nile state. Heavy rains have continued to restrict the delivery of humanitarian supplies by air and road.
