This month’s update highlights children and armed conflict concerns and provides recommendations for the protection of children in the situations of the Central Africa Region (Lord’s Resistance Army), Sudan/South Sudan border areas, South Sudan, Sudan (Darfur), Yemen, Mali, and Syria. In particular, the update provides recommendations on Mali to the Security Council Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict (SCWG-CAAC), who will soon be briefed on the Secretary-General’s Report on Children and Armed Conflict in Mali.

Watchlist on Children and Armed Conflict is a network of local, national and international non-governmental organizations striving to end violations against children in armed conflicts and to guarantee their rights. Monthly updates are based on the experience of Watchlist and its member organizations in specific country situations and Watchlist’s expertise in over a decade of engagement with the Security Council’s children and armed conflict agenda.
