HIGHLIGHTS

Over 67,000 people affected, 150 deaths – according to new assessment data available.

Humanitarian operations now focused in the three worst affected provinces of Jawzjan, Faryab and Sar-e-pul.

Completed response to identified needs in Balkh and Samangan provinces.

Access to the six districts of Darzeb, Qushtepa, Almar, Qaysar, Sozmaqala, and Gosfandi urgently required.

With nearly 3,500 houses reported damaged and destroyed the caseload in need of shelter continues to grow.

Agencies and clusters to monitor closely and communicate the emergence of any gaps as assessments continue and response operations scaling-up.

Meeting of Provincial Governors on 4 May to address bridging emergency and longer-term response to the flood-affected, linking humanitarian interventions with mid and long -term development projects. 30 April heavy rains have resulted in further flash-flooding in 14 districts across Badakshan (5), Takhar (3), Baghlan (5) and Samangan (1). Assessments are planned to examine the extent of the damage and needs arising.
