SITUATION OVERVIEW

The upsurge in violence over the past two weeks in several neighbourhoods bordering Bangui's airport led to dramatic increase in IDP returns jto displacment sites, as well as the repopulation of empty sites. There are currently 632,700 IDPs in CAR, 207,700 in Bangui alone. As a result of increased insecurity, at least 60 people have been killed in Bangui in the last 10 days. The gradual arrival of the rainy season, coupled with limited humanitarian access due to growing insecurity, is compounding these IDPs' vulnerability.
