Situation is clear in the Western Division and our focus now is mainly on the Central, Eastern and Northern Division. Our National EOC Command Centre is now fully activated and monitor situation accordingly.
FRCS Branch Emergency Responders have also been notified and are currently in a state of readiness should they be required. Div EOC West plans to ease down operation from 28th February 2014. Div EOC North is still on high alert and respective North, Eastern and Central branches are briefed accordingly.
Rakiraki Branch maintain communications with Asst. District Officer at the District Office in Rakiraki. Two families have been assessed at Qelema Settlement and distributions based on needs analysis made accordingly.
The National Office and Suva Branch undertook a preliminary assessment of the Suva – Nausori corridor and urban settlements of Wailea and Nanuku in Suva, Wainibuka, Tailevu, Nausori, and Sawani/Naitasiri areas respectively. Residents living close to rivers and in low lying areas experienced flooding and were advised to move to higher ground immediately.
The Commissioner Central’s office announced that Evacuation centres will be active from 7pm. Evacuation centres have been set up in the following areas along the Suva – Nausori corridor:
Vishnu Deo Primary School in Raiwaqa,
LDS Church in Koronivia, Tailevu
KEY SAFE MESSAGES AND CLEAN UP CAMPAIGN ON DENGUE ALERT
Plans underway to begin advocacy on key safe messages and clean up campaign for dengue alert to branch volunteers tomorrow, 28th February 2014 as per meeting outcome with Divisional Medical Officer Western by DMO.
