Highlights

 With the renewed fighting in South Sudan, it is expected that people will continue to cross the border into Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan for the foreseeable future. More than 170,000 South Sudanese have arrived in neighbouring countries since mid-December.

 UNHCR has revised the prognosis for Ethiopia to 150,000 and it is projected that the number of new arrivals in the region could rise to 350,000 by the end of the year.

 WFP requires an additional USD 84 million to continue its assistance to new arrivals at border crossings, reception centres and camps. In particular, WFP is concerned about the nutritional status of children and pregnant and breastfeeding women and contributions are needed to maintain support to these groups.
