Highlights

 Global nutrition response: In 2013, a total of 56,049 children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) out of 57,616 estimated (97%) were treated by qualified staff using nutritional inputs and drugs as per national protocol in the Far North and North regions.

 Flash Floods in September 2013: In response to the floods in Far North region, 2,344 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) relocated to two new sites at Begue Palam, and are being supported by UNICEF through the establishment of a Health Post with essential drugs. In partnership with the Cameroon Red Cross, 80 blocks of latrines and 40 showers were constructed in the two IDP sites. The ZINA area is still not accessible due to flood water.

 Nigerian Refugees: A total of 2,183 people, out of the 5,289 refugees verified and pre-registered by UNHCR were transferred and settled in the Minawao refugee camp. Four boreholes were constructed to improve access to water for refugees and the host community, and 50 sanitary blocks with 50 latrines and 50 showers were constructed.

 Health: More than 1,8 million children under five years were immunized against polio
