CONTEXT

Population arriving from CAR
Over 45,000 individuals have fled Central African Republic (CAR) since the escalation of violence in December 2013. The majority of this population is composed of Chadian nationals, largely women and children. As of 20 January, The Government of Chad has facilitated the transport of its nationals by air (close to 60 flights to Ndjamena) and road (convoys of vehicles to Sido) to Chad. A number of individuals have also arrived spontaneously. Returnees were received in Ndjamena (13, 318) and in 7 Transit Centres in the South: Gore, (2,717 persons), Doba (2,646 persons) Bitoye (4,150 persons), Sido (14,092 persons), Doyaba/Sarh (4,225 persons), Mondou (700 persons) and Mbaibigun (850 persons). It should be stressed that figures are extremely fluid due to the arrival and departure of people at the same time. Furthermore, registered returnees often leave the centers without deregistering while others never register.
