Situation Overview

The security and humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate in the country. There are ongoing reports of killings, lootings and increased inter-community tension in Bangui and Bossangoa. The French Operation Sangaris began on 9 December with the disarmament programme. In Bossangoa, large quantities of cutting weapons including knives have been collected. About 70 armed ex-Seleka members are being kept at the FOMAC barracks until a decision is reached. On the nights of 9 December, Anti-Balaka militia started to loot the local market. The FOMAC was immediately informed and they intervened capturing three of them.
