The recent conflict and floods have contributed to closure of 43 schools and the use of 41 schools as rescue centres, hosting more than 3,600 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in four Mandera, Wajir, Marsabit and Baringo Counties. This has contributed to 54 schools in unaffected areas enrolling an additional 5,000 pupils. 28 schools have been closed as a result of conflict in Mandera, with an additional 2 and 4 schools in Wajir and Marsabit Counties closing respectively. A further 29 schools have been used as rescue centers for Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Mandera and Wajir counties, hosting more than 3,600 people. Learning facilities in the three Counties affected by conflict have been strained by an additional 3,837 pupils enrolled in 43 schools in unaffected areas.
