● On 05 November 2013, AFAD - the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency of Government of Turkey - announced that the total number of Syrians registered and assisted in 21 camps in 10 provinces was 201,292 including 97 Syrians receiving medical treatment in hospitals. AFAD reported that during the 24hrs (04-05 Nov. 2013), a total of 2,130 Syrians were admitted and registered in the camps and 886 Syrians have voluntarily returned to Syria.

● On 05 November 2013, the prefabricated school donated by UNICEF was officially opened in Islahiye with the participation of UNICEF, the President of AFAD, US Ambassador and other local officials. The school has 24 classes to host Syrian children residing in Islahiye camp with Syrian teachers under the supervision of a Turkish Education Coordinator. UNHCR and other UN Agencies were also present during the opening ceremony.

● UNHCR Field Team was informed by the camp officials in Nizip that on an almost daily basis they accept vulnerable non-camp Syrians living in dire conditions in Gaziantep and its towns. This regards sometimes one or two Syrians and on some days up to 50 refugees. Camp officials informed that despite the shortage of space in the camps, they are admitting the referrals offering them to stay in the waiting area tents (rub halls) temporarily until they are provided proper family tents when became vacant after the voluntary returns. However, reportedly since most of these referred Syrians are single males who often work in agriculture on a daily basis, they don't stay in the camps and leave spontaneously. A UNHCR Team also met with a group of Syrians living in the field near Nizip who stated that they are about 200 who were registered in Birecik (town of Sanliurfa) but moved to Nizip to work in the agricultural fields and do not want to stay in a camp. They stated that depending on season, they move to other provinces where they can find work.

● A local NGO in Mardin informed UNHCR that they have initiated a project called "sister family project". Reportedly the aim is to encourage local Turkish families to support one or more Syrian family among the non-camp Syrians living in Mardin province. The NGO informed that so far they have registered some 30 Turkish families who volunteered to be peered with vulnerable Syrian families.
