Floods and severe weather continue across Southeast Asia

Myanmar - Floods (ECHO)

The Ayeyarwaddy River continue to overflow and causing flood in the surrounding area.
The river had overflowed its bank on 16 September in Hinthala Township, Ayeyarwaddy Region and its water level remained above the alarm level since then (report as of 22 September).
Approximately 960 people are taking shelters in the township. 26 schools have been shut down.
Local government is conducting necessary emergency response and assessment is ongoing.

Lao - Floods (ECHO)

Four southern provinces, namely, Champasak, Saravan, Xekong, and Attapeu, are facing further flooding, after a low pressure system brought heavy rain over the weekend.
Of these provinces, Champasak has been the worst affected area, followed by Saravan.
In Champasak province, 9,760 families in 200 villages of all 10 districts are affected. More than 10,120 hectares of farmland have been damaged and thousands of livestock have died.
In Saravan province, Khongxedon, Vapy and saravan districts are the worst affected areas. 68 villages in Khongxedon district have been flooded, with damage to 12,502 hectares of agriculture land and 9,596 families affected.

Indonesia - Floods (ECHO)

Flood affected several sub-districts in North Mamuju district of West Sulawesi Province. 2,590 people affected.
Local disaster management agency and other related government agencies provided necessary emergency response.

Vietnam - Floods (ECHO)

Due to Tropical Depression 18 from South China Sea, several provinces in Vietnam have been flooded. Central and southern Vietnam have been hit by bad weather, inundating fields and villages, with 24 dead and six missing.

Cambodia - Heavy rain and floods (ECHO)

As an affected of a Tropical Depression 18, heavy rains caused floods in several provinces in Cambodia, including; Ratanakiri, Ouddoy Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey.
At least 12 people, including six children under six years old, have died in the deluge, according to the National Disaster Management Committee.

Thailand - Floods (ECHO)

Heavy rain caused Chao Phraya river and Pasak river to overflow and caused flooding in several districts in the provinces of Ayutthaya, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, Phichit, Loei, Phitsanulok, Angthong, Kalasin, Surin, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.
More than 3,800 families were affected and more than 1,000 houses damaged.

Papua New Guinea - Hail Storm (ECHO)

On 18 September, Hail Storm struck Tuime Kup and Golo in East mande.
Agricultural gardens and fish projects were destroyed.
More than 5,000 people were affected and are in need of food and clean water.
OCHA and National Disaster Centre are monitoring the situation and waiting for the assessment report from district and provincial officials.

The Philippines - Floods and Landslide (ECHO)

On Monday 23 September at 06.30 am, continuous rain caused landslide in province of Zambales (northwestern Philippines). At least 20 people reported dead and six houses were buried and nearly 698 people displaced.
On Tuesday 24 September, the Philippine Government said nearly 70,000 people were displaced by floods caused by typhoon enhanced southwestern monsoon rain. 131 evacuation centers were opened in four northern regions: NCR, Central Luzon, Calabarzon and Mimaropa.

China - Typhoon Usagi (ECHO)

As of 25 September, the death toll from Typhoon Usagi (that made landfall near Shanwei City in Guangdong Province on Sunday 22 September evening) has increased to 29.
More than 530,000 people were relocated, 152,000 hectares of crops damaged and approximately 15,000 houses demolished.
