Implementing of Homaye Rahmat Plan Distribution of 30,000 food parcels among the needy persons in month of Ramadan

On commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, Mrs. Farahnaz Rafeh, Head of the Volunteers Organisation of the Iranian Red Crescent talked about the implementation of Homaye Rahmat Plan during the month. In this plan, hundreds of volunteers will be involved in distribution of the food parcels among the needy persons.

“It is for 10 years that this plan is being implemented with the purpose of helping orphans and needy persons.” She added.

She also said that assistance to the families of the patients, prisoners, handicapped, the elderly, and women headed families, female breadwinners and the vulnerable families in earthquake stricken regions particularly in 30 earthquake hit villages of East Azerbaijan, South Khorasan and Boushehr were also considered in this plan.

Each food parcel including rice, date, beans, edible oil, sugar and tea with a total value of IRR 840,000 (about USD 40) is delivered to each four person family in these areas.

Mrs. Rafeh added that the food parcels have been procured based on food habits of various ethnic groups living in various part of the country.

Consequently, the first festival of “Shokouh Mehrabani” will be organised during this month to appreciate those institutes and companies as national donors who supported the Iranian Red Crescent in implementation of “Generous Angles Plan”.

Mrs. Rafeh explained that this plan is implemented in Nowruz (Iranian New Year). In 2013, the financial aid at the amount of IRR 410,000,000 (about USD 200, 000) received through the general public. On the other hand, Head of the IRCS Volunteers Organisation pointed to the establishment of the Specialised Volunteer Houses as well as the National Health Caravans in month of Ramadan. Such caravans are dispatched to the deprived regions for the treatment of the needy people free of charge. She emphasised that 6 million people benefited from the services of the IRCS Volunteers Organisation last year.

She requested the benevolent to transfer their cash contribution to the IRCS account number of 1500000042 in Mellat bank and added that the fundraising and charity collection boxes are sealed in IRCS Volunteer Houses to collect all cash contributions.
