OVERVIEW

The function of the ERF is to support the delivery of humanitarian response activities in Syria and the neighbouring countries through flexible and coordinated funding. The fund is being used for life-saving activities, urgent humanitarian needs and to fill critical gaps. Inside Syria the ERF supports the capacity of local NGOs to reach conflict affected areas and to expand the humanitarian outreach. Eligible implementing partners include UN agencies, international and national NGOs, and Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement organisations.

The ERF has witnessed rapid growth in contributions. Since its inception in March 2012, the fund has received US$ 47.3 million. To date, the ERF has allocated $31.6 million for 100 projects in Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Lebanon. Projects amounting to $4.7 million are currently under review. If approved, the ERF balance will stand at $11 million.
