MULLAITIVU [ACTED News] – In September 2012 the resettlement process in Sri Lanka was officially completed, and by October, 452,070 people had returned to their place of origin in the Northern Province. However, up to 50% of the population in this region is food insecure, and according to UNICEF, 20% of households are severely affected by food insecurity. To respond to these needs, ACTED is to launch a new project targeting 6,124 people involving cash for work, cash grants and home gardening support, in partnership with Solidar Suisse and with funding from the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department.
