On 17th March, there was a heavy storm along Lake Albert in Kanara Town Council, Ntoroko District. Three people are confirmed dead. According to Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) Bundibugyo Branch Manager Ronald Arinaitwe two people died while on the shores of Lake Albert while one person died in a canoe fishing.

The URCS assessments indicate that 239 households were destroyed by the hailstorms.

The Red Cross is embarking on a countrywide relief support for people affected by hailstorms. The Director Disaster Management Ken Kiggundu however notes that the humanitarian agency’s response is hampered by limited funding and non food items.
