AMMAN [ACTED News] – Since August 2012, ACTED has been responding to the Syrian crisis by providing water, hygiene and sanitation services in Zaatari Camp, Jordan. As part of this project, ACTED employed 465 Syrians from the camp through cash for work activities who can not only support their families, but also take better care of their environment. They collect garbage scattered on the ground and dispose it in one of the 13 10-cubic meter waste containers that ACTED also distributed in the camp together with other 263 1-cubic meter containers and 1,530 200-liter barrels. The workers rotate on a bi-weekly basis to ensure that as many people as possible could benefit from this cash for work activity.
