Dessie March 05/2013 The South Gondar Branch Office of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) in Amhara State said it has enabled more than 20,000 farmers in Ebnat Woreda benefit from integrated agriculture development. Office Head, Gebre Derebew and Project Coordinator, Mulat Andarge told ENA that over eight million Birr was allocated to support the farmers in particular rural women in the woreda, which is exposed to recurrent drought. The officials said that the support is provided taking into consideration the needs of the farmers in the area. They said the farmers have managed to harvest up to three times a year and ensure food security through engaging in irrigation development. The farmers are also engaged in different income generating activities, they said. Some of the farmers, Desta Teshome, Agugn Kassa and Abezu Dagnew on their parts said that they benefited from humanitarian services of ERCS.
