Amnesty International submission to the UN Universal Periodic Review, April-May 2013

In this submission, Amnesty International evaluates the implementation of recommendations that Colombia supported during its previous review in 2008. The two sides in the conflict in Colombia continue to be responsible for grave human rights abuses and violations of international humanitarian law, including forced displacement, unlawful killings, forcible disappearances and abductions, and sexual violence. The failure by the authorities to bring to justice those responsible for such international crimes sends a powerful message to the perpetrators that they can continue to kill without fear of being held to account.
