Over 418,300 school-age children in South Ethiopia Peoples' State have got access to education service during the current academic year, the State Education Bureau said. Bureau Head, Mohammed Ahmed told ENA that more than 206,700 of the total students are girls. He said the children are attending classes in more than 5,000 primary schools. Construction of 197 primary schools and distribution of text books and other educational materials had been undertaken at a cost of over 290 million Birr to create improved teaching/learning environment, he said. According to the Head, more than 4.1 million school-age children are attending primary level education in the State at present.
