State-owned house developer Perum Perumnas is ready to work with the Jakarta Special Administrative Region (Pemda DKI) to build low-cost apartments (rusun) for flood victims who live around the Ciliwung riverbanks.

“We are ready to cooperate as long as there is land to construct the low-cost apartments for the flood victims,” said Perumnas president director Himawan Arif Sugoto on the sidelines of the 2013 government work meeting at the Jakarta Convention Center on Monday.

He said that Perumnas was ready to share its expertise and experience and develop low-cost apartments for the victims of the recent floods in Jakarta.

“This synergy can bring real benefit to the flood-affected people while at the same time, it can assist with the challenges faced by the Jakarta local administration in managing areas around the Ciliwung riverbanks,” said Himawan as quoted by Antara. (ebf)
