SITUATION OVERVIEW

4.8 million people have been affected by the 2012 monsoon floods, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

UNICEF KEY ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE SEPTEMBER 2012

  • 440,201 people provided with hygiene messages

  • 366,504 people have been provided with family hygiene kits

  • 320,918 children treated for diarrhea by Lady Health Workers

  • 208,593 children and 90,926 pregnant and lactating women screened for malnutrition

  • 104,810 insecticide- treated bednets distributed

  • 35,958 children enrolled in 510 Temporary Learning Centres

  • 22,414 children and 6,398 women attending Protective Learning and Community Emergency Services (PLaCES)

UNICEF is the lead agency for coordination for WASH, Education (with Save the Children), Nutrition and Child Protection.
