The Syria crisis has left 2.5 million people in need of humanitarian assistance. CERF has been extremely proactive in responding and has made allocations at key moments. Since the crisis began in 2011, CERF has allocated US$52 million to Syria and the region. UN agencies and IOM in Syria have received more than $40 million in CERF funds; an additional $12 million is supporting Syrian people in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. CERF currently makes up 23 per cent of contributions to the 2012 Syria Humanitarian Assistance Response Plan 2012.
