Côte d'Ivoire continues to host more than 10'000 Refugees within its borders; the majority of which are from Liberia and have been living in the country for more than 20 years. Since February 2012, UNHCR has facilitated the return of more than 12'000 registered Liberians from Côte d'Ivoire. UNHCR is also planning to assist another 5'800 Liberian Refugees wishing to return home voluntarily.
In addition to the 10,000 Refugees in the country, there are other populations of concern to UNHCR, such as Returnees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) that were displaced during 2011 post-electoral crisis. The sociopolitical and security situation in Côte d'Ivoire remains challenging.
