Summary: CHF 175,704 was allocated from the IFRC’s Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) on 27 February 2012 to support the Kazakhstan Red Crescent Society in delivering assistance to some 4,000 beneficiaries and to replenish disaster preparedness stocks.
Within the framework of the response operation, the Kazakhstan National Society carried out detailed needs assessment and prepared a list of the beneficiaries according to criteria agreed with community leaders, beneficiary representatives and the local authorities.
The procurement of non-food items was made through the IFRC standard tendering procedures.
In total, 757 families (4,436 people) from floods affected districts were reached with non-food items. The Red Crescent also replenished the emergency stocks of the South-Kazakhstan regional branch.
