Relief assistance continues to pour in for those affected from the recent floods that hit most parts of the Western Division.

Goodman Fielder International donated more than $7,000 worth of food items to the National Disaster Management Office today.

The ministry permanent secretary Inia Seruiratu expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders, business communities and commercial entities for assisting Government in providing the necessary relief assistance to those who were affected.

“Government is thankful that agencies such as Goodman Fielder share equal responsibility in the provision of relief assistance,” Mr Seruiratu said.

“Disaster management is the primary responsibility of Government and all assistance received will be distributed to families in need.”

The food items will be transported to Lautoka this afternoon.

Assistance has also been received from other countries, with the latest donation from the governments of China and Japan.
