  • Twenty one earthquakes measuring 5.0 or above on Richter scale (RS) occured across the country during December. The largest of these (6.3 RS) struck of these (6.3 RS) struck on71 Km Southeast Gorontalo on 13 December
  • Currently there are 6 volcanoes with alert level III and 18 volcanoes with alert level II
  • The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported in November that some parts of the country just entered the rainy season in December including various parts of Java (Tangerang, Bekasi, Karawang, Indramayu, Lamongan, Sidoarjo, Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Situbondo, Bondowoso, Banyuwangi, Madura), East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua.
  • BMKG, in collaboration with Water Resource Oce of Public Works Ministry and Coordinating Agency for Survey and National Mapping (BAKOSURTANAL), has also forecasted rains and a high possibilty of oods in several areas across the country during January 2012.
