At least 13 anti-government protesters have been killed in Sana’a after snipers and security forces opened fire on more than 1000 demonstrators marching towards the residence of the prime minister, outside of the national health laboratory.

The death toll is expected to rise as more protesters succumb to their wounds.

Just after erecting tents in front of lines of soldiers, snipers and soldiers used AK-47’s and .50 caliber machine guns on the crowd, sending them into a stampede fleeing the gunfire.

Shooting continued for hours after the initial firing as rebel soldiers in the 1st Armored Brigade engaged Central Security Force and Republican Guard soldiers surrounding “Change Square”.
