Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and Influenza

  • Federated States of Micronesia (FSM): As of 17 November 2022, influenza-like-illnesses (ILI) are still above the threshold level, with 422 cases reported. Furthermore, Pohnpei State continues to see a lot of ILI cases at the hospital, dispensaries, and privates’ clinics, 46 individuals were admitted with 85-100% on oxygen support. Yap's ILI syndrome has exceeded threshold level. Laboratory is reporting cases of Rhinovirus, RSV, Adenovirus, human Metapneumovirus and Influenza A. Diarrhoea

  • Kiribati : As of week 45, the Ministry of Health, Kiribati reported 950 cases of diarrhea and vomiting in South Tarawa. Majority of the cases are from Betio, Ambo, Bairiki. Twelve (12) out of 20 tests were positive for Rotavirus. Seven of these cases ( all <1 year old) required hospitalization and were then discharged. A red alert is added to the map. Monkeypox

  • New Zealand: There is one new case to report as at 17 November 2022. This brings the total to 35 confirmed cases (including both active and recovered). Nine cases were acquired overseas and 26 cases are identified as community transmission.– Source: Monkeypox (MPX) | Ministry of Health NZ accessed on 22 November 2022.

  • Australia: As of 10 November 2022, there are 141 cases (confirmed and probable) of MPX in Australia, reflecting cases which have been diagnosed in Australia and reported to the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System (NNDSS) by states and territories. This includes 69 in Victoria, 55 in New South Wales, 7 in Western Australia, 5 in Queensland, 3 in the Australian Capital Territory, and 2 in South Australia. – Source: Australia Government Department of Health accessed on 22 November 2022.

  • Hawaii: As of 14 November 2022, 40 people in Hawaii have tested positive for monkeypox.– Source: State of Hawaii, Department of Health accessed on 22 November 2022.

  • Multi-country outbreak of monkeypox: : Since1 January 2022, cases of monkeypox have been reported to WHO from 110 Member States across all 6 WHO regions. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

  • American Samoa: As of 13 November 2022, a total of 8,262 COVID-19 cases and 34 deaths were reported by the American Samoa Department of Health. – Source: Weekly Situational Report - American Samoa Government Department of Health (reporting period November 7 – 13, 2022).

  • Australia: Over the last week, 75,590 cases of COVID-19 were reported across Australia, an average of 10,799 cases each day. Source: Department of Health, Australian Government accessed on 22 November 2022.

  • Solomon Islands: As of 11 November 2022, Solomon Islands has continued to see an increase in the number of locally detected cases of COVID-19. COVID-19 Vaccination

  • As of 21 November 2022, a total of 2,759,413 of the 1st dose; 2,418,707 of the 2nd dose; and 800,514 of the first booster dose have been administered in all 22 Pacific Island Countries and Territories (PICTs).
