North-East Nigeria has been the scene of violent conflict for the last 12 years, which has caused unprecedented populations displacement mostly in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa state (BAY States). The people affected by conflict in north-east Nigeria have endured hardship and displacement over the years which has eroded living conditions of the populace.

The Humanitarian Needs Overview and Response Plan (HNO/HRP) for 2022 indicated that 1.4 million under five children and 125,000 pregnant and lactating women (PLW) in IDP camps and host communities in North-East Nigeria (BAY) will suffer acute malnutrition, these will be the highest level of acutely malnourished children and women requiring treatment since 2017 when the crisis was at its peak. In addition, approximately 2 million children under five and PLW will require preventative nutrition services in 2022.
