  • Heavy rain and strong winds continue to affect most of the country since the beginning of the rainy season (mid-April) causing floods, landslides, mudflows and a number of severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage.

  • The National Coordination for Disaster Reduction (CONRED) reports, as of 21 October, 32 fatalities, two people still missing, 17 injured people, more than 11,850 evacuated people (of which nearly 700 in temporary shelters) and a total of approximately 1,481,400 affected people across the country.

  • In addition, the same source reports over 4,500 damaged houses (of which 125 severely damaged), 228 damaged roads and 24 damaged bridges (of which 15 destroyed). Moreover, CONRED reports more than 130 affected schools.

  • Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rain is forecast over the whole country, with locally very heavy rain over central-western Departments.
