DESCRIPTION

Loss and Damage in the Central Regions and Central Highlands of Vietnam (report from 15th to 19th October 2021)
1. Regarding people: 05 fatalities (includes 2 from Nghe An province, 1 from Hoa Binh province, 2 from Quang Binh province), 2 people missing (Quang Binh: 1, Quang Tri: 1), 2 injured people (Quang Tri).
2. Regarding houses and facilities: 248 unroofed houses, 1896 flooded houses.
3. Regarding schools and health facilities: 6 schools and 2 medical stations were hit by landslide.
4. Regarding agriculture: 2669 ha rice, 1042 ha secondary crop, 3000 bonsai pots were damaged, 3044 livestock were killed or swept away, 173 ha of aquaculture farm was flooded or damaged.
5. Regarding irrigation structure: 1531m of canals were buried, 3895m of riverbank and coastline were damaged (including 1040m of breakwater were broken).
6. Regarding traffic system: 14 locations of national highway, 105 locations of provincial road were on traffic due to 36.000 m3 of soil and rock.

Due to the influence of the circulation of storm No. 8, in the past many days in the upland district of Mu Cang Chai (Yen Bai) there has been heavy to very heavy rain.

Regarding the influence of storm circulation No. 8 and tropical depression, according to a quick report of the Commanding Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue in Yen Bai province, the whole province has 22 houses damaged, of which 9 houses had to be relocated people and property to ensure safety, 13 houses were destroyed by landslides; over 56 hectares of corn and vegetables were flooded, 1000m2 of fields were washed away; Many provincial roads and inter-village roads were eroded. Total damage was estimated at 800 million VND.

Currently, the work to overcome the consequences of rain and storm is being urgently implemented by the locality, soon stabilizing people's lives.
