Burkina Faso

15 September 2020: In Fadji hamlet, Gourma province, Est region, an unspecified number of aid workers were abducted presumably by JNIM militants. All were released after three hours. Source: ACLED1

09 September 2020: In Bangui, a Toyota Land-Cruiser belonging to the Dutch Red Cross was robbed in the early evening by three armed men wearing military uniforms who pretended to be soldiers to stop the vehicle. The driver was unharmed. Source: Corbeau News

Democratic Republic of the Congo

14 or 16 September 2020: Near Lubero town, North Kivu province, a two-vehicle INGO convoy carrying four aid workers was ambushed by Mai Mai militia while returning from distributing aid to IDPs. One INGO aid worker was killed, one seriously injured and two others managed to escape unharmed and were found the following day in a nearby village. Source: AWSD2

08 September 2020: In Barkaina village, Bourem cercle, Gao region, gunmen seized an NGOrented vehicle that was being used as an ambulance to transport a patient and their companion, and a health worker. Source: ACLED1

11 September 2020: In Mobbar LGA, Borno state, ISWAP members burnt two vehicles from two different aid organizations. No injuries were reported. South Sudan

08 September 2020 (DoA): At checkpoints between Juba and Lobonok area, Central Equatoria state, members of the National Security Service and the SSPDF blocked a team of 92 Ethiopian and Nepalese UNMISS peacekeepers from reaching Lobonok, where they intended to establish a temporary base at the request of local communities concerned about their safety amid clashes between the National Salvation Front and forces belonging to the SSPDF and the SPLA-IO. 09 September 2020: In Hai Daraja, Wau state, a male South Sudanese INGO aid worker was shot dead by armed criminals on the road next to the Bhar El Ghazal hotel. The victim’s motorcycle was stolen. Source: AWSD2

15 September 2020: in Ulang town, Upper Nile state, a South Sudanese aid worker was seriously injured during clashes between youths of Ying Payam and Nyangore. The aid worker was medically treated at an NGO clinic but died as a result of his injuries. Source: AWSD2
