WFP Regional Syria Refugee Crisis Overview, May 2020
Highlights
• 1.9 million* Syrian refugees, non-Syrian refugees and host community assisted by WFP in May 2020.
• As part of the WFP’s efforts to ensure operations’ continuity, only a few activities were put on hold or postponed complying with the developing environment and government safety guidelines and restrictive movements (mainly school feeding and livelihoods). Plans are already underway to restart livelihoods assistance once safe.
• Governments continue to impose mitigation measures while reducing restrictions and gradually reopening parts of the countries.
- The reduction in number of assisted refugees compared to the previous month is due to the handover of the ESSN programme in Turkey.
