Information sharing on novel coronavirus (COVID-19) Update no. 20 – 23 June 2020 [EN/MY]

Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) have been producing bilingual weekly updates (English/Myanmar) highlighting MRCS’s COVID-19 activities supported by its nation-wide branches and community-based Red Cross volunteers. The weekly updates, produced from 3 February 2020 till 23 June 2020, provide valuable insights on activities MRCS has rolled out in all 17 states and regions of Myanmar in the initial months of the COVID-19 response. In addition, the updates capture the life-saving and life-changing work of the Myanmar Red Cross volunteers on the ground making a difference working with and through the communities. MRCS and IFRC will continue to produce regular updates, on monthly basis from August 2020.

IFRC revised emergency appeal highlights

IFRC is appealing for 1.9 billion Swiss francs (1.95 billion US dollars) to support National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in providing health care, water and sanitation, and mitigation against the socio-economic impacts for the most vulnerable people, as well as strengthening National Societies’ capacities and safety of staff and volunteers. Out of the 1.9 billion Swiss francs, 450 million Swiss francs will be raised through the IFRC Secretariat in support of National Societies. Currently CHF 152,117,653 is received. (see IFRC Go)
