The current outbreak of COVID-19 has affected global mobility in the form of various travel disruptions, restrictions and blockages. To better understand how COVID-19 affects global mobility, IOM is developing a global mobility database by mapping and gathering data from the locations, status and different restrictions of Points of Entry (PoE), globally. This Points of Entry Baseline Assessment provides an overview and analysis on data from various countries, territories and areas (CTAs).
As of 26th March 2020 (17:00 CET), data for the baseline assessment of Points of Entry (PoE) has been collected and processed for 108 countries/areas.

The PoE Baseline database contains information on 1,501 points of entry.

These consist of 313 airports, 89 internal transit points, 882 land border points and 217 sea border points.

Of the 1,501 PoEs assessed, 1,280 (85%) have some form of restriction placed upon them, 679 were being fully closed for entry and exit and 477 partially closed.

Of the assessed PoE’s, 91% were reported to be official points of entry.

The most common restriction period ranged between 14 days to onemonth (53% of all assessed PoEs).

Of the 650 PoE’s imposing some form of health restriction, 38% are reportedly conducting routine health screenings, and a further 32% have COVID-19 specific screening activities ongoing.
