A Humanitarian roadmap featuring 10 major humanitarian consequences of the armed conflict in the East of Ukraine and 10 things the duty-bearers can do to improve the lives of 5.2 million Ukrainians in Donbas.

On the occasion of the Human Rights Week held in the Ukrainian Parliament from 2 to 6 December 2019, the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), in a partnership with the humanitarian non-governmental organisation People in Need (PIN), presented a document outlining the key humanitarian challenges which the conflict-affected population in eastern Ukraine encounter on a regular basis and emphasising the 10 steps that can be taken by the Ukrainian authorities or parties to the conflict to alleviate the suffering of civilians.

The key messages touch upon, among others, the issues of the payment of pensions for conflict-affected pensioners, access to the civil status documents' registration system by conflict-affected families, removal of the excessive restrictions on the freedom of movement through the contact line, security risks posed by mine and UXO contamination of lands, a high level of food insecurity and protection of critical civilian infrastructure from the effects of hostilities.
