Tropical Cyclone BELNA continued moving south over the Mozambique Channel passing between the Glorioso Islands and Mayotte, with maximum sustained winds up to 165 km/h. On 9 December at 6:00 UTC, its centre was located approximately 155 km north of Soalala and approximately 135 km north-west of Mahajanga, with maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h. BELNA is forecast to make landfall over the Soalala on 9 December late in the afternoon (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 120 km/h. It is forecast to move southand weaken. Over the next 24 hours, heavy rain, strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast over most of Madagascar as well as Mayotte.
