• Typhoon KAMMURI (locally named TISOY) made landfall on 02 December 2019 at 22:00 (UTC+7) in Gubat, Sorsogon province with wind strength of 175 kph. As per latest severe weather bulletin by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Typhoon KAMMURI continues to weaken and is now off the coast of Occidental Mindoro province with wind strength of 130 kph. It is moving westward at 25 kph and forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday afternoon, 05 December 2019.

• The government facilitated pre-emptive evacuation on hazard-prone villages and currently responding in the affected areas after the typhoon made its landfall. Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) will be conducted by the local government units, to be supported by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). The National Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) maintains its BLUE alert status and declared that situation is still within government capacities.

• Organisers of the 30th South East Asian (SEA) Games, which will continue until 11 December 2019 in Metro Manila and Central Luzon, implemented actions and contingency plan related to the Typhoon:

• Several games have been temporarily suspended, cancelled or postponed and an adjustment on the competition format will be made and will resume once the weather becomes more favourable;

• Organisers instructed some venues to dismantle temporary structures like tents for officials, security and catering or outdoor branding to ensure safety;

• Indoor games will continue regardless of the attendance of spectators;

• Sailing and windsurfing events will resume once the weather improves;

• Cancelled and delayed flights of athletes and officials (which was expected due to typhoon) will be handled accordingly by games organisers;

• Games officials stated that there will be no extension of the events in spite of Typhoon KAMMURI.

• The ASEAN Secretariat, through the Secretary-General, assures the Government of the Philippines that their preparedness measures to ensure the safety of 30th SEA Games delegations in spite of Typhoon KAMMURI, are appropriately communicated to other ASEAN Member States.

• The AHA Centre National Logistic Officer for the Philippines is in close coordination and regularly attending daily briefings by the NDRRMC). The Centre is on stand-by and continuously monitoring the event, and will issue updates should there be any significant development.
