The number of affected people has risen to 250,000 after widespread floods and flash floods hit several parts of the country, Djibouti City in particular. Up to 5,000 people that were evacuated are now returning to their homes, but 100,000 are still in need of assistance. The Government of Djibouti requested assistance through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism on 25 November. Following the identification of needs together with the Djiboutian authorities, the EU is coordinating the mobilisation and delivery of emergency relief items offered by France through the Mechanism. Humanitarian organisations and the Government of Djibouti are providing food and non-food items and water, sanitation and hygiene provisions. The EU's Copernicus emergency satellite mapping service was activated on 22 November and 4 maps have been produced to better assess the affected areas. Dry conditions are forecast over the next 24 hours.
