  • Drought is affecting parts of north China and regions straddling the lower and mid regions of the Yangtze River following high temperatures and low rainfall since July. The situation in the Shanxi, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangxi and Hunan provinces has been severe, while the situation continues to deteriorate in other affected areas.

  • China's National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry of Emergency Management (MEM) has jointly activated a level 4 emergency response for severe drought in central China's Anhui Province and east China's Jiangxi Province.
