DAVAO CITY, Oct. 8 (PIA)- City Health Officer Josephine Villafuerte announced the conduct of an anti-polio vaccination drive in Davao City on October 14, 2019.

She said that while a relaunch of the vaccination program will be done in Barangay 5-A, Bangkerohan, the vaccination will also start in all places of convergence and will go on for two weeks.

Villafuerte said many of the health workers will go on house-to-house vaccination while others will be in health centers, malls, terminals and other strategic areas.

“When they pass in any public convergence, people can easily avail of the vaccination,” she said.

Villafuerte said that even if a person has a complete vaccination one-year-old and below, he can still avail of the vaccine as a booster to ensure immunity from the disease.

She said that vaccination periods are also scheduled on November and December to totally eliminate the polio viral infection.

Meanwhile, Villafuerte also underscored that reuse of plastic glasses is banned and can be a cause of revocation of business permit.

She ordered the sanitary inspectors to look into the malpractice particularly in Bankerohan Public Market.

Villafuerte said anybody can acquire illness from the reuse of plastic glasses since it is already a garbage.

“What if the one who used it earlier has an illness. Their manner of disinfecting it is not a guarantee that one will not acquire a disease,” she said. (PIA XI-Joey Sem G. Dalumpines)
