Summary of Distribution

  • Where was the distribution held and how was it organised?

-What and how were beneficiaries informed?

  • How was equal access ensured for men, women, girls and boys?

  • How was order maintained during the distribution?

Prior to the distribution - Once the assessment analysis had been completed and pipeline request approved. After meeting with RRC and the local chiefs to discuss and agree the distribution date, the beneficiaries were informed of the distribution date in their respective locations.

  • For legible households the team visited each household to verify the household and to distribute their vouchers, they were then once again reminded of the day and time of distribution.
Distribution day - The team held a briefing, to go through roles and responsibilities and how the distribution would be carried out. The registration team then set off to the distribution point, to set up the distribution points and while the rest of the team supervised and helped load the items onto distribution trucks. The items were packed in individual NFI bags and labelled with each household’s unique Concern Worldwide ID number. These were then placed in order on the two distribution trucks.

  • The distributions were held at Attende Church for IDP’s from Mukaya on the 13th March 2019 and Wuluturu primary school for IDPs from Morsak on the 5th April 2019 respectively.

  • The distribution point had four stations,

  1. The registration desk (located inside the church and school- to ensure seating and shade for awaiting households). Beneficiaries were called in groups of ten, to ensure the line was not too long, while the others remained seated (taking into consideration equal access to different groups of people such as the elderly, pregnant women and those with disabilities). Before the commencement of the registration process key messaging regarding the distribution process were shared in English, Arabic and local languages. The items were then demonstrated to the beneficiaries with the help of microphones and key messaging regarding best use and care:

a. Cooking set: key messaged shared was to coat the bottom of the pot in mud to ensure it doesn’t burn if going food items for long period of hours b. Plastic sheeting how to secure this properly and to ensure on using nails to secure it along the black strips.

  1. The CRM station: for those who required information, wanted to make a complaint or those who lost their vouchers 3. Verification desk for: For those whose head of household could not attend and had chosen a family to attend on their behalf. This point was located by the registration desk, and with the support of chiefs and community leaders there family members were verified. Their name and voucher was taken in case of any disputes arising at a later date (none has arisen).

  2. Distribution point: Ten NFI bags were off loaded at a time, in the same order as the distribution list and Crowd controllers’ were appointed by the local chiefs to maintain order in the lines, for the identification of vulnerable groups to ensure they were supported throughout the process.
