OVERVIEW

Tropical Cyclone Idai made landfall in Zimbabwe, on the 15 of March 2019. DTM will do continuous assessments. For DTM Round 1 in Manicaland click on this link.

DEMOGRAPHICS

9,859 IDPs (2,059 households)* were reported across the 4 affected districts.
The largest number of IDPs have been identified in Bikita (3,162 IDPs), followed by Gutu (2,770 IDPs), Zaka (2,762IDPs) and Masvingo Rural (1,165 IDPs). The high number of IDPs in Bikita can be explained by the fact that the district shares the border with Chipinge.

*Due to limited time in collecting the 2nd round, data from some of the wards was collected through phone interviews with Ward leaders (Councilors).
