In the Central African Republic (C.A.R.), an estimated 2.9 million people — 63% of the population — are in need of humanitarian assistance, up from 2.5 million last year. Bangui, despite being the smallest prefecture, has 414,000 people in need. Violence and infrastructure constraints limit access to people in need and hinder humanitarian operations.
Attacks against aid workers remain a major challenge in C.A.R., with 15 attacks leaving 22 aid workers kidnapped, wounded, or killed since January 2018.
