This bulletin is being issued for information, and reflects the current situation and details available at this time.

Since the beginning of severe rainfalls and flash floods in 31 provinces of Iran, 1905 cities, villages and mountainous roads have been affected. Based on the estimation done so far, damage to the agriculture and infrastructures reaches to millions dollars.

The death toll is reported 70 persons in Fars, Golestan, Mazandaran, North Khorasan, Kohkilooyeh va boyerahmad, Kermanshah, Khozestan, Semnan,
Ilam, Lorestan and Hamedan.

The IRCS with 3630 teams (more than 15,000 relief workers), 23 relief and rescue helicopters, 41 boats and more than 2000 light and heavy relief vehicles started big operation through air, road and land and rendered relief services for more than 257,000 people and provided temporally shelters for more than 98,000 persons. 1138 persons were transferred to safe areas and 89 persons transferred to the clinics.

4,809 vehicles were released from snow, 189 vehicles were released from flood path and flood water was pumped out of 5,000 flooded houses.

Meanwhile, 537,000 kgs of food and living items have been transferred through 556 flight hours and 1,970 relief & rescue workers were transported.

Food stuff and basic living items that have been distributed so far throughout the affected provinces are as follows:

14,238 units of tents, 58,494 pcs of blankets, 32,961 pcs of ground sheets, 43,509 kgs of plastic sheets, 3,083 pcs of heaters, 2,851 health sets, 1355 kitchen sets, 227,696 bottles of mineral water, 125,993 canned food, 235,405 loaves of bread, 1,877 kgs of date, 41,992 kgs of rice, 9,485 kgs of edible oil, 3955 boxes of Biscuits, 8,710 kgs of sugar, 11,753 kgs of beans and 84,580 food packages.

Khuzestan Flood

The Situation

Flash flood, snow and blizzard occurred in Khuzestan province led to one death and damages to 119 cities, districts, villages and mountainous roads. The IRCS operational teams immediately rendered relief services and assisted 42,973 people and provided 24,142 people with temporally shelter in the camps. 376 persons were transported to safe areas. In this operation, 175 operational teams (including 850 relief workers), 66 relief and rescue vehicles as well as one helicopter were engaged in the operations in the province. 34 temporary shelters have been set up. 20,978 hot meals were distributed among the flood-affected people. 164 relief flights have been done.

Lorestan Flood

The Situation

Flash flood and snow occurred in Lorestan province and caused damages to 32 cities, villages and mountainous roads. The IRCS operational teams immediately rendered relief services and assisted 46,000 people and provided 14,503 people with shelter in temporary camps. In this operation, 180 operational teams (including 1000 relief workers), 72 relief and rescue vehicles were engaged in operations. Flood water was pumped out from 1300 houses and 1,301 vehicle trapped in snow were released. 10 helicopters were engaged in relief operation in the province with 164 flights. Also, one mobile communications vehicle was set up for communication through satellite.

Iranian Red Crescent Response distributed food & living items as follows:

  • Family tent : 4,162 units

  • Blankets : 7,850 pcs

  • Ground sheet : 3,521 pcs

  • Plastic sheet : 5,345 kgs

  • Kitchen sets : 757 sets

  • Mineral water : 27,733 bottles

  • Canned food : 15,222 cans

  • Bread : 44,550 loaves

  • Rice : 7,780 kgs

  • Heater : 1,198 pcs

  • Food parcels : 5,663 parcels

Meanwhile, the following items have been sent to Lorestan Red Crescent Provincial branch for strengthening the warehouses capacities in rendering relief services to the flood-affected areas, particularly in the cities of PoleDokhtar and Mamoulan.

  1. 72 hours food parcels: 14,000 packs

  2. Canned beans : 14,000 cans

  3. Monthly food parcels: 5,800 packs

  4. Blanket : 23,700 pcs

  5. Relief tent : 24,475 units

  6. Travel tent : 2,790 units

  7. Ground sheet : 1,200 units

Golestan Flood and Blizzard

The Situation (Golestan)

The flash floods followed by blizzard that stroke Golestan province in the northern part of the country led to heavy damages. The Iranian Red Crescent Emergency Operation Center declared early warning based on the metrological alarms. 10 cities, 124 towns and districts, villages and mountainous roads were affected.

According to the officials, 62,359 people have been affected and 58,027 people have been assisted, 15,907 people have been sheltered. 32 injured people were transferred to the health centers. 9 injured persons transferred by the IRCS relief helicopters.

It should be mentioned that 6 relief helicopters were deployed to transport more than 288 kgs of food & living items within 229 flight hours. In coordination with the benevolent, 121,991 hot meals have been distributed.

IRCS operation:

  • Setting up emergency sheltering and food supply camps with capacity of 10,000 people

  • Flood water and sump were pumped out from 10,255 houses

  • Dispatching 6 helicopters to affected areas with blocked routes in order to reduce response duration Distributed Items:

  • Operational team: 953 teams (4,347relief workers)

  • Rescue and relief vehicle: 83 ambulances, 12 rescue vehicles, 461 relief vehicles, 80 heavy duty vehicles, 33 rescue boats, water pumped out of 231 houses, 6 rescue helicopters (1,596 relief workers deployed, 257,000 kg humanitarian consignment transported)

  • BHCU service: 131 medics and nurses (2,421 beneficiaries for medical services and 4503 beneficiaries of nurses' services), 97 midwives (99 beneficiaries), 66 health experts for rendering 392 psychological services, 253 environment health services and 229 nutrition services.

  • The services of the IRCS Youth Teams: 44 SAHAR teams (Psychological Support Teams after Disasters) with 261 persons for rendering psychological services for 7,582 beneficiaries in 57 camps.

Mazandaran Flood

The Situation (Mazandaran)

The flash floods followed by storm that stroke Mazandaran province in the northern part of the country led to heavy damages. The Iranian Red Crescent Emergency Operation Center declared early warning based on the metrological alarms. 12 cities, 88 towns and districts, villages and mountainous roads were affected.

More than, 15,000 people have been assisted and 504 people sheltered.

IRCS operation:

  • Flood water and sump were pumped out from 880 houses

  • 445 vehicles were released from snow.

  • Operational teams : 162 (658 relief workers)

  • Relief boats : 18 boats

  • Food parcels : 2,327 packages

  • Blankets distributed : 4,466 pcs

  • Ground sheet : 1,909 pcs

  • Plastic sheet : 130 kgs

  • Canned food : 1,630 cans

  • Bread : 23,000 loaves

  • Mineral water : 8,320 bottles

  • Date : 180 kg

  • Rice : 15,240 kg

  • Edible oil : 2,534 kg

Ilam Flood

The Situation (Ilam)

The flood occurred in Ilam province in the Western part of the country, affected 11 towns, districts, villages and mountainous roads. Relief teams have immediately responded to the affected people. 12,000 people have been assisted, 3,148 people have been sheltered. Flood water was pumped out of 103 houses and 8 temporary camps have been set up. 2 helicopters were engaged in relief operation in the province.8 emergency camps were set up.
