CATARMAN, Northern Samar, April 2 (PIA) -- The Philippine Red Cross - Northern Samar Chapter distributed a total amount of P2,012,500 on March 22 as a multipurpose cash grant to communities affected by Tropical Depression "Usman."

Renard Fidel, PRC Northern Samar Red Cross administrator, said the cash grant is supposedly an immediate assistance distributed a few days after the onslaught of TD Usman, but the PRC had to undergo some processes so that those who really were devastated were the ones given the needed assistance.

“An emergency assistance was also provided immediately after TD Usman such as food items, hot meals, clothing, among others,” Fidel said.

He added, “Some 575 vulnerable households in selected 14 barangays of three municipalities, whose houses were totally damaged, were given cash amounting to P3,500 each."

The three municipalities are Catarman with 333 beneficiaries, Lope De Vega, 121, and Mondragon, 121. (NBQ/AND/PIA Northern Samar)
