During the visit of the Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent National Societies, Bekele Geleta, to l'Aquila in the areas hit by the earthquake (see the photographs), the National Commissioner Francesco Rocca, for the first time, gave the figures regarding the presence of the Red Cross there.

The Italian Red Cross has been a sound reference point for all those who have wanted to participate in a tangible way in helping the population hit by the earthquake in Abruzzo. This role has enabled us to raise, from the beginning of the emergency up to today, a total of 2.964.453,21 euro.

This sum is certainly bound to increase given that the banks need to update their figures.

From the beginning of the emergency 750 volunteers and staff members have been engaged; 109 vehicles deployed; 33.200 breakfasts, 74.144 lunches and 79.804 suppers have been prepared in the 5 camps run by the Italian Red Cross. 2.519 visits have been carried out in the Advanced Medical Posts.

For these exceptional results and for the donations which will continue to increase we thank everyone, private citizens, companies, volunteers and operators.
